HONG KONG (AFP) ??” Hong Kong health officials have warned of further outbreaks of viral gastroenteritis which has already sickened centurys of people in the city.

Acting envoy Director of Health, Regina Ching, told lawmakers that past records showed the Noro virus, believed to be responsible for the outbreak, was usually active for couple months a year.

Ching added she feared "the cases thus far this month were alone the beginning" and urged residents to maintain high hygiene standards to minimise the chances of contracting the virus.

The virus generally appears in places where there is inadequate sanitation and forage is contaminated by infected the public
