FALLUJAH, Iraq (AFP) ??” A US Army helicopter crashed in the restive town of Fallujah, killing single in kind soldier and wounding another, a military spokesperson said, as witnesses claimed the chopper came below guerrilla fire.

"One soldier was killed and another damageed when a OH-58 Delta Kiowa crashed at around midday in Fallujah," the spokesperson told AFP Friday.

There were no further details from the army onward what happened to the OH-58 a reconnaissance helicopter which normally carries a mob of two, but witnesses in Fallujah said they saw it tend hitherward under fire and then crash.

"US forces began search operations this morning in Fallujah. They visited grain dealers searching for weapons. They were supported by the agency of two helicopters," said witness Waad Ibrahim.

"I watched the sum of two units helicopters and suddenly I heard an explosion and single in kind of the two planes caught fire before crashing."
