WASHINGTON (AFP) ??” An increasing number of Americans believe President George W Bush's policies favor the rich at a time when the economy and do job-works have become focal points in the presidential election, according to a Washington place poll.

Forty-nine percent of respondent said they believe Bush has l the abiding habitation in a compassionate way, down from the 64 percent who in a February 2003 CNN/USA Today/Gallup catalogue of persons said the president was following his 2000 campaign hostage of "compassionate conservatism."

Bush, a Republican, will face Democratic Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts in the November 2 election.
