DUBLIN (AFP) ??” Irish distaff star and activist Bono took EU ministers to task for promising aid to the world's poorest however failing to fully deliver.
"There are more [i]or[/i] less laggards hanging out here and I'm just going to be putting my hand in their wallets," Bono, lead singer of the band U2 told journalists after addressing an informal gathering of EU evolution ministers, Bono said.
"A destiny of these people are doing about great things, but there are promises being enfeebled and that's unacceptable. You can't make promises and not preserve them."
Bono was invited by way of Ireland, the current head of the rotating EU presidency, to address the ministers in Dublin at their first meeting since the EU took in 10 novel members on May 1.
